How it works:
Submit your application online through the Southern Cross University portal.
A Course Advisor will contact you.

To support your application, you may be asked to provide some or all of the following documents:

A Course Advisor will let you know exactly what is required based on your individual circumstance and chosen program.

The interview process

Interviews are typically 30–40 minutes and can be held in person or online.

We’re looking to understand your motivation, readiness for study, and how we can best support you during your time at The Hotel School Australia. You’ll meet with a Course Advisor who will talk you through the program, answer your questions, and discuss your background, interests and career aspirations.

You don’t need to prepare anything formal, but we recommend being ready to talk about:

  • Your education or work experience
  • Why you’re interested in studying hospitality, tourism or business
  • Your career goals and preferred study mode

Your Course Advisor will guide you through the process and let you know what to expect.

Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs)

A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is a government subsidy that helps reduce the cost of undergraduate study at THSA.

For eligible students, the Australian Government pays part of your tuition fees, and you pay the remaining student contribution amount. This can significantly lower the overall cost of your degree.

Students in a CSP may also be able to access HECS-HELP to defer their student contribution and repay it later through the tax system once their income reaches the repayment threshold.

Balancing Postgraduate Study and Work

Many postgraduate students balance their studies alongside full-time or part-time work.

Postgraduate programs are delivered through the SCU Model, which allows students to focus on one or two subjects at a time rather than studying multiple units concurrently. This study model supports working professionals by offering:

  • Short, intensive teaching periods
  • A reduced subject load per term

Class timetables, teaching formats and time commitments may vary by program and campus. Your Course Advisor can help you understand how the study model works in practice and how it may fit around your work and personal commitments.
