Go Higher with The Hotel School

Choosing a University after Year 12 can be overwhelming as there are so many options. I once received great advice where I was encouraged to select a University that offered the best specialised degree in what I wanted to do. That is exactly why I chose The Hotel School – to pursue a career in Hotel Management.

With this in mind, I chose The Hotel School for three very clear reasons.

Reputation
The Hotel School has a reputation as one of the best universities for Hotel Management in the country. It has been around for over 30 years and even though you graduate with a degree from Southern Cross University, their partnership with Mulpha gives you access to some of the top Hotel chains in the world.

Bachelor of Business from a public university
The fact that The Hotel School offers a Bachelor of Business degree focussing in Hotel Management provided a degree that was both universal and transferrable. I have the knowledge and skills to move into other industries with something I am really passionate about.

Employability
The Hotel School is a leader in Australian universities for Hotel Management with graduate statistics and employability scores. 98% of students have a job within 6 months of graduation with 78% receiving jobs before graduation. And that brings me to the best part…

The best part of studying at The Hotel School was the endless opportunities that were provided to engage and connect with industry.

Whether that be through Industry Insight Events, excursions to wineries such as Bimbadgen Hunter Valley, work experience trips to QLD at Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, overseas travel to Singapore and a number of other opportunities that allow students to engage, network and commence their careers in the tourism, events and hotel management sectors.

These opportunities also provided great variety of knowledge and breadth of experience therefore, giving students a greater opportunity to understand the career paths possible from a career in Hotels.

Now that I have graduated with a degree behind me, I will continue my focus on progressing into higher managerial roles within Rooms Division at the luxury hotel I am currently working at – with a longer term goal of progressing to General Manager and beyond.

I would love to travel overseas and explore the luxury hotel sector internationally as well!

I am open to new opportunities and want my career to remain exciting and unique. The opportunities are endless with the great foundation that has been provided from my studies at The Hotel School Australia.

Hugh has recently been promoted to Hotel Duty Manager at Crown Resorts.
