Our Partnership with Southern Cross University (SCU)

The Hotel School revolutionised Hospitality and Tourism education in the ’90s by launching a unique style of education and a one-of-a-kind partnership. This pioneering approach set a new standard for excellence and innovation in the industry. During this period of significant growth, The Hotel School moved into the iconic Treasury building at the InterContinental Sydney, further cementing its position as a leader in hospitality education. In 1996 a collaborative partnership was forged between the hotel and Southern Cross University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, allowing The Hotel School to introduce diploma and degree courses with a curriculum co-developed by academics and industry leaders. This strategic alliance is the first of its kind within Australia remains as the core of THSA, offering unique University programs, designed by industry, for industry.

Peter Lewis was employed as Manager and Principal of the School and brought with him twelve years of experience as General Manager in luxury hotels  throughout Australia, France and the UK, Peter’s commencement at The Hotel School, combined with the new curriculum resulted in exponential growth in student numbers.
