Many of our international students are attracted to the diversity of the hospitality industry and the global working opportunities that can come from studying with The Hotel School. This was one of the key reasons behind the decision of Kristina to come to our Sydney Campus to study from Nepal. She is particularly excited about how her studies and experiences in Australia will open up a world of opportunities for her to help contribute to the burgeoning tourism industry in her home country.
Now in her second year of a Bachelor of Business, Kristina has surprised herself with her love of the financial aspects of her course studies and she is looking forward to exploring revenue management in her future career. The Hotel School’s Professional Learning Centre (PLC) supported Kristina in polishing her resume and helping her secure her first working role at a boutique hotel in Potts Point.
This ‘mini internship’ is a great introduction to the industry with first-hand experience in all aspects of running a hotel from reservations to night audit and guest services. Although Kristina found the transition to Sydney a little challenging at first, she now considers it her home-away-from-home.
“The part I love about The Hotel School the most is the people. I know all the staff, from admin to lecturers and professional learning staff. Coming from Nepal and studying in a city away from home, The Hotel School is my safety net”.
